My Story
Please donate any amount, anything you can give will be gratefully received and help this fantastic baby & children's equipment and clothing bank - thank you!
In the early 1990’s when I was just 22 and my daughter was born, I was on my own and studying at University, I was helped by a charitable organisation with some basic equipment and clothing. I was very grateful for this initial support, which made a huge difference.
However there was a lot of stigma back then and I wish I'd had more on-going support and access to a charity like Little Green Sock!
I believe they are so important to our local Trafford community by helping and supporting families in their time of need. This might be from the start when a child is born, then as they grow this care continues to be provided. Or it could happen at any stage that a family finds themselves struggling and a referral can be made. Little Green Sock project is there for them!
Not only is the charity there as a children’s clothing bank to support families in need it is also nurtures a kind and supportive volunteer environment, which my family is lucky enough to benefit from. My daughter Jasmine, who is learning disabled and autistic LOVES to volunteer every week at Little Green Sock and she tells everyone she meets all about the charity - she's been helping now for over 3 years! The rest of the family (3 generations!) also support her with this too and enjoy getting involved.
As a family we also believe in the "green" ethos that the charity promotes, trying to ensure that pre-loved clothing and equipment can be reused and recycled to benefit others and therefore help towards saving the environment and reducing what goes to landfill.
This charity is all about people who are helping to change things for the better for the community and families in need whoever they are and this can only help to continue to help make positive change in all of our lives.
